I got this iPad Mini 2 GSM with Retina display from my neighbor. He said that according to the owner the unit suddenly shuttled down, and when trying to charge there's no charging indicator at all. So the unit can't be charge nor can't be powered on.
I dismantle the unit. Check first if it's shorted to ground. YES! It's fully shorted. I checked the board over my microscope to see if there's a burnt capacitor or IC. I saw 2 suspected capacitors as shown on the image below.
To make sure if the two capacitors are shorted to ground. I checked with my multi-tested. But my multi-tester said that the two capacitors are not shorted to ground. So I decided to look again for suspected burnt component. I found another capacitor show on the image below.
I double checked again using my multi-tester, and it's positive. This capacitor is shorted to ground! What I did was I just remove it and the shorted was gone :)
Problem solved!
