ACER E5-411 No Power [FIXED]

Laptop ACER E5-41 comes with no power. I checked if shorted to ground on battery terminal and charging terminal, and it was really shorted. Full shorted. I first download its schematic and analyze the circuit. I removed PQ24 and check if the board was still shorted to ground. Stiil yes. Until I realize that the charging ic OZ8691LN is shorted. I removed it. The short was gone. I replace the charging ic with a good ic, but symptoms persist. Im sure that charging ic that i put in was good, so I decided to look for another defective parts. I found out that PU5, the 3.3valw ic was heating up. When i remove it, the short was gun. Finally I replace the ic and the laptop works perfect.

iPad Mini 2 GSM No Power [FIXED]

I got this iPad Mini 2 GSM with Retina display from my neighbor. He said that according to the owner the unit suddenly shuttled down, and when trying to charge there's no charging indicator at all. So the unit can't be charge nor can't be powered on.

I dismantle the unit. Check first if it's shorted to ground. YES! It's fully shorted. I checked the board over my microscope to see if there's a burnt capacitor or IC. I saw 2 suspected capacitors as shown on the image below.

To make sure if the two capacitors are shorted to ground. I checked with my multi-tested. But my multi-tester said that the two capacitors are not shorted to ground. So I decided to look again for suspected burnt component. I found another capacitor show on the image below.

I double checked again using my multi-tester, and it's positive. This capacitor is shorted to ground! What I did was I just remove it and the shorted was gone :)

Lenovo Laptop No Power [FIXED]

This Lenovo laptop came to me with a no power, no light indicator. In short, no sign of life. I disassemble the unit and check if there's a short to ground on the charging pin. There's no short to ground. The board is clean, and no sign of water spill.

I connected the charger and measure voltages in charging pin. There's a 19V there. I measure input and output voltage of the first mosfet, also there's a 19V. I measure input voltage of the second mosfet, and 19V was also present. But when I measure the output voltage of the second mosfet, there's no 19V there. That means that the second mosfet was damage or open.

Replacing it and the laptop revived!
